St. George Place-Uptown is a vibrant neighborhood with a diverse population, thriving businesses, major destinations, and employment centers.
As the area continues to grow, this study will help create a community-driven vision for the future of St. George Place-Uptown by identifying opportunities to encourage economic vitality and investment, strengthen parks and public spaces, enhance multimodal transportation access, support housing choices, improve safety and accessibility, and celebrate neighborhood identity.
St. George Place-Uptown is a culturally, economically, and historically diverse community.
St. George Place-Uptown is located about six miles west of Downtown Houston, just outside the 610 Loop. The neighborhood includes a great mix of housing types, businesses, offices, parks and green space, and community destinations. Major corridors such as Westheimer Road, Richmond Avenue, Hillcroft Avenue, and Post Oak Boulevard connect residents and visitors to jobs, shopping, dining, services, and entertainment.
The study area includes destinations ranging from the luxury retail of the Galleria to Houston’s largest Flea Market. It is also home to Waterwall Park, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, and Houston’s first dedicated bus rapid transit corridor. The area continues to experience economic growth, new residential development, increasing tourism, and reinvestment that are shaping its future.

Follow the project’s progress from existing conditions to a final community-vision and recommendations.
We have completed our existing conditions analysis and want to hear from you. We want to understand what you value about St. George Place-Uptown, the challenges you experience, and whether there are opportunities or concerns we may have missed. What we learn from these conversations will help shape draft recommendations and a conceptual plan for the future of the neighborhood.
Over the summer, we will use what we hear to develop draft recommendations and a conceptual plan. In early Fall, we will share these ideas with you, gather additional feedback, and refine the plan before presenting a final draft in November.
