Every day, a diverse community of approximately 200,000 residents, employees and visitors live, work, shop and play within Uptown Houston. This growing community is provided with comprehensive local and regional mobility options including quality pedestrian and cycling opportunities integrated with quality transit and driving experiences.
More than 25 miles of graciously widened sidewalks within Uptown are shaded by street trees and illuminated by pedestrian lighting. Post Oak Boulevard features more than 1,000 Cathedral Live Oak trees and sidewalks are paved with custom designed pavers. Pedestrians are rewarded with a refreshing walk along shaded oak alleys during the day or an evening stroll along inviting illuminated pathways.
Urban trail connectivity with Post Oak Boulevard reaching out to Memorial Park and distant destinations for walkers, runners, and cyclists.
Delivering faster connections than ever before, MetroRapid Silverline has become a quintessential component to connectivity in Uptown. Its modern design offers 100% accessibility, with wider doorways and platform-to-bus boarding. Exclusive dedicated bus lanes, ramped intersections with verbal crosswalk signals and well-lit, widened sidewalks allow for comfortable and safe accessibility at all Boulevard Stations. With both local and regional connectivity, MetroRapid connects Uptown to two major transit centers: Westpark/Uptown Transit Center and Northwest Transit Center.
METRORapid taps into the existing US 290 and IH-10 Katy Freeway HOV lanes, allowing employees and visitors to use Park and Ride lots along these corridors to reach the Northwest Transit Center. In addition, the Westpark / Lower Uptown Transit Center taps into the existing I-69 Southwest Freeway HOV lanes and the Westpark Tollway, allowing employees to use Park and Ride lots along these corridors to the Westpark / Lower Uptown Transit Center. METRORapid will take riders to Post Oak Boulevard from these locations.
